Build an Inexpensive Portfolio with Blurb

Blurb.com allows you to design and publish your own book, starting at just $4.95 USD.

Blurb offers visual editing software called Blurb BookSmart® which you can download for free and use to lay the book out. You choose the dimensions of the finished piece, add your own photos and text, and Blurb will publish as many copies as you like. Your book can be private (order copies just for yourself or your family if you like), or you can list it for sale on their website.

I love the Blurb software – it’s really simple to use and they offer enough sample layouts to get you started if you’re not quite sure where to begin. They release new versions with more features regularly, and you don’t have to be a computer whiz to figure it out.

For artists, this is a simple and inexpensive way to publish a high-quality portfolio to send out to potential customers, galleries and employers. The finished product can look polished and professional and you have total creative control over the layout and contents.
