It’s not easy to find the time for blogging and social site updates, especially if you’re running a small business. Here are three tips to help:
1. Delegate – Have a staff member or even a friend log in to write a article for your site from time to time. If you have a happy client who would compose a review, simply copy and paste it into a blog entry. High school students are often looking for volunteer work to satisfy credit requirements – ask one to do research on topics you’ve wanted to write about and prepare a rough draft. It’s much easier to make simple edits to existing text than to start from scratch.
2. Automate – I’m writing this article while waiting for a large file transfer to be completed. I can set my website to auto-publish this blog entry at a future date, so it’s possible to use brief moments of downtime to stockpile content for days when you don’t have a minute to spare.
3. Syndicate – there are plenty of plugins available for WordPress that will send notifications of new blog entries to all your social media sites. How much time would you save if you could auto-magically Tweet or publish a note to your Facebook or LinkedIn page whenever your site was updated? One update is so much more efficient than three or four.
Remember, frequent website updates are good for your search engine ranking, which is good for business.
